DUSTIN YUKON BOARD 8.5"

Regular price $55.00

8.5"

These mitts and mukluks are important belongings created by Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and Tukudh Hwëch’in artists. Some made by my grandmother and great grandmother. They are from Dawson City, Yukon which is the traditional territory of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in (people of the river). They are crafted from beaver fur, wolverine fur, moose skin, and caribou skin (also known as hide). Embedded in the beadwork designs are elements of the land and water and those relationships are considered sacred for many.

These articles are very special and important to me, and recently helped inspire me to go back to school for First Peoples studies.

We will be working with and donating all proceeds from this board to the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Youth Center--a safe and comfortable place for the local youth and teens to hang out and socialize.

Mäshį cho to the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in collection for providing these pictures and knowledge.
